PHOENIX — Two adults and four juveniles were arrested early Monday morning after allegedly running from police in Scottsdale, authorities said.

According to the Scottsdale Police Department, 21-year-old Benjamin Brown — the driver of the car — faces charges of felony flight, reckless driving, aggressive driving and driving on a suspended license.

Police added that three of the teens, two girls and a boy, were booked on charges of disorderly conduct and minor possessing or consuming alcohol.

Meanwhile, 18-year-old Lolana Hernandez was reportedly booked on criminal littering and the fourth juvenile, a 15-year-old, faces the charge of minor in possession of a firearm.

What led to the group being arrested by Scottsdale police?

Officers responded to the area of Belleview and 70th streets for reports of shots fired around 1:40 a.m., according to Scottsdale PD.

Police said that while responding, officers saw a vehicle leaving the area and attempted a traffic stop near Scottsdale and McDowell roads. The vehicle reportedly refused to stop and a pursuit began, but was terminated after the car merged onto the freeway.

According to police, the Arizona Department of Public Safety was contacted and maintained continuous sight of the car before getting it to stop.

Officers with the Scottsdale Police Department responded to where DPS stopped the car and a search of the vehicle was reportedly conducted.

Police said that an empty handgun as well as an empty magazine were located in the trunk, concealed in the spare tire compartment beneath other items. However, no ammunition or shell casings were found.

Brown and the five teens denied any involvement in a shooting and the 15-year-old claimed ownership of the gun but said it hadn’t been used in any criminal activity, according to Scottsdale PD.

Police said that after consulting with investigators, it was determined that there was not enough evidence to connect the car or the firearm to the shooting.

It was noted by police that shell casings were located in two separate areas near where the shooting was reported, but that no bullet strikes were found and no injuries were reported.

In addition, officers located a house party approximately 100 yards from the reported shooting location, but partygoers denied any involvement and no evidence was found indicating a shooting had occurred, according to police.
