Two men were arrested for allegedly shooting at a home in Ventura County and fleeing from deputies.

The suspects were identified as Sylmar residents Juan Hernandez Nunez, 20, and Angel Fuentes Hernandez, 21, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

On Oct. 8, at around 12:30 a.m., deputies responded to shots being fired into a home in the 400 block of Stroube Street in an unincorporated area of Oxnard known as El Rio.

The suspect fled the scene in a getaway car. Deputies arrived at the residence and learned the shooting stemmed from an ongoing domestic violence situation.

Shortly after fleeing, authorities spotted the suspects’ car at a gas station in Camarillo.

Deputies tried to pull the suspects over, but they refused to yield and sped off at high speeds. They entered the 101 Freeway before eventually ditching the vehicle near the Kanan Road exit.

Detectives later found the abandoned car and were able to identify the suspects as Nunez and Hernandez.

After gathering enough evidence, a search warrant was served at Nunez’s residence in Sylmar, where authorities found additional evidence linking Nunez and Hernandez to the alleged crimes.

Nunez was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, shooting at an occupied dwelling, and making criminal threats. He is being held on a $500,000 bond.

Hernandez was arrested for being an accessory to the shooting and was later released after posting a $10,000 bond.

No one at the El Rio home was injured due to the gunfire. No further details, including the relationship between the suspects and the victim, were released as the case remains under investigation.
