MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) — An investigation is underway after the body of a Texas man, who was reported missing last week, was found off Madison Boulevard on Thursday.
According to the Huntsville Police Department, Xavier Calvin Chambers, of Austin, Texas, was last seen on Oct. 10 while he was walking his dogs.
HPD said that police were called to the area on Madison Boulevard to check on him; however, he had already left when they arrived.
On Oct. 16, around 11 a.m., police said a body was discovered and later identified as Chambers. HPD told News 19 crews at the scene that Randall’s Adventure & Training Search and Rescue, a non-profit K-9 team, found the body
HPD said that foul play is not suspected at this time. The Madison County Coroner’s Office is continuing to investigate to determine the cause of death.
A family spokesperson told News 19 that Chambers and his mother came to Huntsville to help his sister move. The last time his family saw him was when he left to walk the dogs, but never returned.
The spokesperson said that he had never shown signs of mental issues before, until he was on this trip to Huntsville. They told News 19 that while they are glad there appears to be a resolution, it is clearly not the resolution they wanted.
HPD said that teams with Alabama Fish and Game, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, RAT-SAR, Search and Rescue Technicians K-9 Team, the North Alabama Search and Rescue Association and Huntsville Cave Rescue assisted with the search.
