An alleged underage drunk driver neighbors say was going over 100 mph broke her neck after she crashed her car through a Tennessee homeowner’s bedroom roof — narrowly missing the shaken woman and her dogs.
Jennifer Pittman miraculously escaped unscathed after she’d left her bedroom with her pups just moments before a car — allegedly driven by impaired teen Evelyn Sis — went off a road, hit an embankment and smashed through the roof of her one-story Nashville home around 8 a.m. Sunday.
“Here’s a car that took a nosedive. Had to have been going, I would say, 100-plus, coming up the road,” neighbor Steven Burris told WSMV.
“That was stupid,” he said. “What were they thinking?”
The home suffered significant damage after the wreck. Wild photos from the scene show the back of the car sticking vertically out of the roof.
Pittman said Smith Springs Road is known for dangerous driving, where speedsters “use the center lane as a race track,” she told WKRN.
“We have a going joke: ‘Who’s going to get hit head-on first turning into our driveway?’ That’s how bad it is, so something definitely needs to be done,” she warned.
Burris, who has lived in the neighborhood for 25 years, was not surprised by the crash as he’s had to replace his mailbox at least three times after it was struck.
Sis was hospitalized with a broken neck after the crash, while a passenger suffered minor injuries, according to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.
She is charged with driving under the influence, drinking under the age of 21, driving without a license and reckless endangerment.
Neighbors and local officials have urged police to patrol the area to curb dangerous speeding.
