Police are searching for two hit-and-run drivers who left a woman critically injured in downtown Los Angeles.

On Oct. 5, surveillance cameras captured the woman crossing the street near Central Avenue and 14th Place at around 5:45 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

As she paused to wait for oncoming traffic to pass, she was struck by a Ford Explorer SUV. The sudden impact sent her body flying across the roadway.

The Ford SUV quickly merged into another lane and continued speeding away from the scene. As the woman remained lying on the road, a second SUV, possibly a Honda CR-V, ran over her and dragged her body underneath the vehicle.

That suspect also drove away from the scene. Paramedics responded to the area and transported the woman to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The suspect vehicles are described as a dark-colored 2018-2025 Ford Explorer and a blue compact SUV, possibly a 2007-2011 Honda CR-V.

“Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves,” LAPD said.

A reward of up to $25,000 is available to anyone who provides information leading to the suspects’ identification, apprehension and conviction.

Anyone with information is asked to call LAPD Officer Balderas at 213-833-3713 or email [email protected].

The public can also call the Central Traffic Division watch commander at 213-833-3746 or the LAPD at 1-877-527-3247. Anonymous tips can be provided to L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at lacrimestoppers.org.
