Divorce rates in the United States have generally fallen in recent years, but not among older Americans.

The rate of “gray divorce” — typically defined as divorce between those 50 and up — doubled between 1990 and 2010. Nowadays, more than a third of divorces are in that age group, and research suggests women are more likely than men to initiate these splits.

All of which has upended our expectations around who gets divorced, when and why.

Have you gotten a gray divorce? Or have you seriously contemplated splitting from your partner? If so, we’d like to hear from you about the circumstances: Were you, for instance, unhappy or unappreciated for years? Did your priorities change?

Please fill out our survey below, and a reporter may be in touch to talk to you about your experience for an upcoming story. Please note: We will never use any part of your submission without contacting you for permission first.

Catherine Pearson is a Times reporter who writes about families and relationships.
