EXCLUSIVE: Will Forte and D’Arcy Carden are bringing some Sunny to international TV schedules. The pair’s new series Sunny Nights has been snapped up by a raft of buyers as MIPCOM begins in earnest.

Canada’s Bell Media, which operates linear channels and the Crave streaming service, has taken the comedy-drama for Canada. German giant ProSieben has also acquired the eight-parter. Other buyers include Ireland’s TG4, Israel’s Yes and TVNZ in New Zealand.

The latest news follow a splashy pre-market deal with UK broadcaster ITV for the show. Cineflix Rights is distributing and will be looking to close more sales at the market in Cannes this week.

Directed and executive produced by Trent O’Donnell (Colin from Accounts), Sunny Nights is an original for Australian streamer Stan, which has given it a festival launch-date with a Dec. 26 premiere.

In the show, Forte (The Four Seasons) plays strait-laced American Martin Marvin, who teams up with his loose cannon sister, Vicki, played by D’Arcy Carden (Barry), to set up a spray tan business in Sydney. Things get complicated when they cross paths with a local crime family in a turn of events that threatens their business and their lives.

Colin From Accounts star Patrick Brammall also shows up in the series. Supporting cast include Rachel House (Thor: Ragnarok), Jessica De Gouw (The Couple Next Door),Miritana Hughes (Preacher), Ra Chapman (Wentworth) and Megan Wilding (Mystery Road: Origin). Jungle Entertainment (No Activity) and Echo Lake Entertainment (The Great) produce in association with Cineflix Rights.

“Will Forte and D’Arcy Carden, stars of two of this year’s biggest streaming hits, The Four Seasons and Nobody Wants This, have joined forces with Trent O’Donnell, the acclaimed showrunner and director behind Colin from Accounts and Hacks, to create Sunny Nights — a sharp, darkly funny new crime drama,” said Tom Misselbrook, SVP Scripted Development, Cineflix Rights. “We’re thrilled to be taking this incredible line-up of talent and such an entertaining, high-quality series to audiences around the world with these latest sales.”
