NORMAL, Ala. (WHNT) — The Alabama A&M University Bulldogs brought home the win against the Mississippi Valley State University Delta Devils during the Homecoming weekend matchup. The final score was 45 to 25.
While the game kicked off at 2:00 p.m., fans packed the tailgating lots on campus all morning.
News 19 spoke to a lot of fans and alumni who traveled from near and far to attend homecoming weekend.
Rosemary L. Anthony Stubblefield told News 19 she flew in from Houston, Texas.
“As a graduate of A&M, coming home means something, because this is family,” she said.
Stubblefield said her family is staying with her sister who lives in north Alabama, and they cherish this time together.
Attending Alabama A&M is a family tradition for a lot of families. Including Monica Bryant Alexander.
“I am a second-generation bulldog,” she said.
Her mom tells News 19 that it was “her choice” to attend; however, Alexander said Alabama A&M was her first choice.
The Class of 2002 graduate said homecoming is a great time to reconnect with friends and celebrate the university.
“I am just excited to be out here with my friends, my sorority sisters, we are out here just having a great time,” she said.
Saturday afternoon, the tailgating zone was packed with people cooking up great food, playing games, and enjoying the atmosphere.
“The overall vibe out here is just love, peace and happiness,” said Reggie Kelly.
He said with Alabama A&M celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, this homecoming is even more special.
“150 years, you know, let’s you know it’s been 150 years of excellence!” Kelly said.
