TONEY, Ala. (WHNT) — Toney Volunteer Fire & Rescue (TVFR), will be conducting a live training burn over the weekend.
According to the department, (TVFR) will conduct a live training burn on Saturday, October 11, at 217 Matlock Road at 9 a.m.
TVFR says the training will follow up with a dedicated burn plan which includes extensive safety protocols to ensure a controlled and secure environment.
During the exercise, residents may notice heavy to moderate smoke in the area throughout the training session.
According to TVFR, this is a planned, supervised training event. Certified fire and medical personnel will be on scene throughout the event, working to ensure safety while conducting the hands-on experience.
“Life burn exercises are rare opportunities for our members and surrounding departments to test every aspect of our response capabilities. Our primary goal this weekend is to conduct an effective exercise that keeps firefighters and the community safe. I am confident in our training plan and can’t wait to see our members expand on their skills from this opportunity,” said TVFR Chief Heath Jones.
Live burn training offers firefighters realistic experience in managing fire behavior, coordinating teams under pressure, and applying tactical operations in a controlled setting.
TVFR is asking the public to not enter the training area.
