Four teenagers are in custody after participating in a gang-related attack at a Thousand Oaks park, authorities announced Wednesday.

The assault happened around 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 9, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, at what was only described as “a local public park in the city of Thousand Oaks.” KTLA reached out for more information regarding the location.

It was unclear what led to the incident, but the Sheriff’s Office said two of the four juveniles allegedly kicked someone on the ground, causing them non-life-threatening injuries. Officials only identified the suspects as a 16-year-old Thousand Oaks resident, a 15-year-old Thousand Oaks resident, a 17-year-old Simi Valley resident and a 16-year-old Simi Valley resident.

The Thousand Oaks Police Department learned of the assault the following morning, and investigators looking into the incident eventually positively identified all four suspects.

Detectives searched multiple residences in Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley on Sept. 24, authorities said in a release. They arrested one teen in Thousand Oaks and two in Simi Valley.

Law enforcement arrested the fourth teen in Thousand Oaks on Oct. 3. “All four juvenile suspects are documented members of a local criminal street gang,” stated the Sheriff’s Office.

Officials said the four teens were booked at the Ventura County Juvenile Justice Center on charges of assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, conspiracy to commit a crime and street terrorism.
