LeBron James plans on making a major decision on Oct. 7.
The NBA’s all-time leading scorer posted a short video on Instagram Monday morning of him taking a seat on a basketball court.
“The decision of all decisions. October 7th. 12 pm EST. #TheSecondDecision,” the caption reads alongside emojis of a salute and a crown.
His post comes amid rumors that the 40-year-old James would be retiring soon.
“Better not be retiring,” commented the Instagram account for LeBron James History.
“Nah no way fam… This can’t be,” commented YouTuber MarcelasHoward.
“Its 1 or 2 things. He is going back to Cleveland, only place that makes sense and has a chance at actually winning a ship this year and or retiring! Retire and win a ship with the team, city and place your from is a hell of an ending!!” wrote a follower.
Meanwhile on X, fans were apprehensive that this had to do with basketball.
“Gonna be an ad for Chipotle and he’s deciding between chicken or beef,” wrote one user.
“LeBron is doing an Amazon commercial for them since the NBA will be on Amazon now,” wrote another.
It’s important to note that Amazon’s October Prime Day kicks off on Oct. 7 and lasts until Oct. 9.
Sports Illustrated also pointed out that the four-time NBA champion appeared in an Amazon Prime ad earlier this year, but noticed there’s no #ad disclaimer on his post.
Fans will remember King James’ first major decision in 2010, which was televised on ESPN. At the time, he was an unrestricted free agent who had played all seven of his seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers. During the special, he revealed he would be joining the Miami Heat for the 2010-11 season.
In Monday’s video, fans noted he’s wearing the same outfit in the 2025 version of the decision as he did 15 years earlier.
The three-time Olympic gold medalist and 21-time All-Star is set to enter his 23rd season in the NBA.
