Tesla has posted a short teaser video on X, sparking speculation that the electric carmaker may unveil either its long-delayed next-generation Roadster or a new low-cost mass-market model.
The nine-second clip shows a spinning metallic object before flashing the numbers “10/7”, suggesting an announcement Tuesday. A second teaser shows headlights cutting through darkness, further fueling online debate among fans and analysts.
Elon Musk first unveiled the Roadster concept in 2017, promising a 0–60 mph time under two seconds. However, production has been repeatedly delayed, with most analysts now expecting a launch no earlier than 2026. Musk recently described the new Roadster as “something special beyond a car.”
Industry observers, however, believe Tesla is more likely to reveal a cheaper version of the Model Y, seen as crucial for boosting sales amid rising competition from Chinese EV makers like BYD. Reuters reports that Tesla’s upcoming model could be priced between $25,000 and $30,000, aimed at mass-market buyers.
Tesla shares rose over 2% in after-hours trading after the teaser was posted. The company has faced slowing sales in Europe and China and hopes a lower-cost model will help it regain momentum.
The upcoming reveal is expected to be Tesla’s most closely watched event of the year.
