Taylor Swift is giving her fans one more surprise to celebrate the release of her 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl.”
Four days before the album dropped, Taylor Nation — the singer’s official social media team — shared a detailed release schedule on Instagram. The post, captioned “Places, everyone! #TSTheLifeofaShowgirl comes out this week, and your official schedule is here!” outlined a week of events, interviews, and merch drops to mark the new era. But one slot on the schedule left fans guessing: an unaccounted-for “standby” window on Oct. 4 around 7 p.m. Eastern.
Swifties flooded social media with theories about what might happen during that mystery timeslot. Their anticipation paid off Saturday night when Swift revealed a special announcement on Instagram.
“File this under ‘save your best for the finale,’” she wrote. “I think my favorite moments from the tour were the acoustic surprises. So I went back into the studio with Max and Shellback to record acoustic/unplugged versions of a few of the ‘Showgirl’ songs with brand new vocals and production!”
Swift announced four limited-edition CD releases, each available for 24 hours on her official website. Each CD features two exclusive acoustic or alternate versions of songs from “The Life of a Showgirl,” produced by Max Martin, Shellback, and Swift herself.
The special editions include:
- Life Is a Song Acoustic Version with “Opalite (Life Is a Song Acoustic Version)” and “Ruin the Friendship (My Advice Version)”
- Dressing Room Rehearsal Version with “Wi$h Li$t (Settled Down Acoustic Version)” and “The Life of a Showgirl (Dressing Room Rehearsal Acoustic Version)”
- Alone In My Tower Acoustic Version with “The Fate of Ophelia (Alone In My Tower Acoustic Version)” and “Eldest Daughter (Now You’re Home Acoustic Version)”
- So Glamorous Cabaret Version with “Elizabeth Taylor (So Glamorous Cabaret Version)” and “Elizabeth Taylor (Original Songwriting Voice Memo)”
For fans already streaming “The Life of a Showgirl,” the limited-edition acoustic CDs offer one last encore — an intimate reimagining of Swift’s newest songs.
