LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office has recovered dozens of items after arresting a man on Thursday.

According to LCSO, on Thursday at around 7:30 p.m., Deputy Nick Gibson saw a suspicious vehicle near Highway 251 and Bethel Road showing a switched license plate.

When the driver of the vehicle, Brandon Oneal Mitchell, 36, of Ardmore, noticed Deputy Gibson, he quickly parked and ran off.

After a short chase, LCSO said Mitchell refused to listen to commands and resisted arrest.

However, LCSO said Deputy Gibson was able to catch Mitchell safely. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed three catalytic converters, burglary tools and drug paraphernalia.

Mitchell was arrested on outstanding warrants for first-degree and fourth-degree theft and is facing several new charges, such as:

  • 9 counts – Possession of Burglars’ Tools
  • 3 counts – Unlawful Possession or Acquisition of a Catalytic Converter
  • 1 count – Obstructing Governmental Operations
  • 1 count – Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • 1 count – Resisting Arrest
  • 1 count – Driving While License Suspended/Revoked
  • 1 count – Switched Tag

Mitchell is currently being held in the Limestone County Detention Facility, and as the investigation continues, additional charges may be brought.

LCSO said residents in the Ardmore area who have their catalytic converter missing are encouraged to contact the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office at (256) 232-0111, as investigators may have recovered their stolen property.
