EXCLUSIVE: Ruby Cruz (The Sex Lives of College Girls), Eric Berryman (A Complete Unknown), and Janeane Garofalo (Wet Hot American Summer) have signed on to star in Souvenir, an indie comedy marking the feature debut of writer-director David Ketterer Spencer.
Hailing from All The Way Around Productions and Jumping Fox Films, with production underway in New York City, the film centers on a chance encounter between old friends Kevin and Dani (Berryman and Cruz) that leads to an unexpected day-long adventure through New York City as they attempt to return a stranger’s lost wallet, forcing them to confront unresolved feelings and life-changing decisions.
Others in the cast include Mozhan Navabi (The Blacklist), Laith Nakli (Ramy), and Willie C. Carpenter.
A veteran 1st AD on titles like Problemista, After Yang, and Y2K, Spencer comes to Souvenir after directing shorts including Charlotte at the Drug Store (narrative) and Changeover (documentary), as well as the pilot Carmen. He is repped by Independent Artist Group.
Next to be seen alongside Zoey Deutch and Jonah Hauer-King in the film The Threesome, Cruz’s past credits include HBO Max’s The Sex Lives of College Girls, as well as Bottoms, where she starred alongside Rachel Sennott and Ayo Edebiri. She also starred in the Disney+ series Willow, with additional appearances in HBO’s Mare of Easttown and Hulu’s Castle Rock. She is repped by Gersh and Landsburg Management.
Berryman is a Drama Desk-nominated actor who’s been seen on the series Fallout, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and Atlanta. He can also be seen in James Mangold’s Best Picture nominee A Complete Unknown as well as Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story, among many other films. He is repped by Artists & Representatives and Smith Talent Group.
An Emmy-nominated actress and comedian, Garofalo’s career has included roles in 24, The West Wing, Mystery Men, Ratatouille, and Billions, as well as every incarnation of cult hit Wet Hot American Summer. She has also played herself twice on The Simpsons and is repped by Gersh, GRLBND, Independent Artists Media, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.
