PHOENIX — A man has been hospitalized with serious injuries after a shooting involving officers with the Phoenix Police Department, authorities announced Thursday evening.
The shooting took place near 16th Street and Buckeye Road. It was the city’s second officer-involved shooting of the day.
The Phoenix Police Department has now been involved in eight shootings in the last six weeks.

Investigators with Arizona Department of Public Safety Major Incident Division will investigate this incident, according to police.
Second shooting involving Phoenix police officers in one day
The first shooting involving Phoenix police officers took place around 8 a.m.
A man police described as suicidal allegedly ran at an officer while yelling and holding a knife above his head.
That shooting took place in the area of Seventh Street and Sunland Avenue, north of Southern Avenue.
The man was hospitalized with critical injuries, police said.
