Mariah Carey appeared on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” on Oct. 1 and made a major revelation about unreleased music with a major superstar.
Carey revealed to Cohen that she has a song with Michael Jackson, but it may not see the light of day anytime soon.
This all happened when a viewer asked the singer if the song would ever be released, which caught the host’s attention immediately.
“So, there is a Michael Jackson- Mariah Carey Collab that is in the vault somewhere?” Cohen asked.
The “Elusive Chanteuse” corrected him by saying, “It’s not in the vault, it’s right there. But, there’s an issue with his estate because they’re doing something really huge for him, for Michael. This is a song that we didn’t know, it just would kind of ruin, not ruin, but it would sort of usurp the situation.”
Cohen asked if Carey liked the song, to which she said, “I love it.”
“I’m so upset it’s not coming out on this album,” she said, referring to her new album “Here For It All.” Like it should be on. Every time I would play it for somebody, they’d be like, ‘Wow.’”
The Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee said she didn’t pen this one, because it’s one of the King of Pop’s “classics.”
“I sang along with it and did new background vocals,” she added.
“You’re kidding me!” Cohen said aghast.
“No! I’m telling you,” Carey assured him. “If someone just calls his management and tells them ‘we want to hear this.”
The collaboration isn’t the only time the two musicians have worked together. Back in 2001, they performed at the United We Stand: What More Can I Give benefit concert.
