If it’s October, it must be POLITICO’s Competitive Europe Summit — and there’s a lot to discuss.

Three big shifts have taken place since the last time we gathered politicians, policymakers, academics, CEOs and lobbyists to talk about European competitiveness.

One, Ursula von der Leyen kicked off her second term as European Commission president with a handbrake turn on the bloc’s political direction. Out went the Green Deal; in came competitiveness. (Read our analysis of how that’s going here.)

Two, Donald Trump was reelected as president of the United States and promptly tore up the global trade rulebook and reshaped the geopolitical landscape.

And three, Mario Draghi’s plan to save Europe’s economy moved from being a highly praised galvanising call-to-action to being a stick with which to beat European leaders over their failure to act.

Join us as our reporters grill the crème de la crème of Brussels policymaking to understand where competitiveness fits into this brave new world. Defense, money, artificial intelligence, infrastructure, space — we’ll cover it all over the next two days.

See the full program of panels and interviews here and follow the event below.
