EXCLUSIVE: Egyptian film editor Ahmed Hafez, who is best known internationally for his collaboration with Mohamed Diab on Clash and Marvel’s Moon Knight, has launched one-stop post-production company Story Studio in Cairo.

Created by Hafez in response to his perception of a gap in the market, the facility is billed as a state-of-the-art destination, with its high-end post-production services including 4K editing across multiple team-equipped suites, HDR color grading, theatrical-ready sound mixing with Dolby Atmos, which is rarity in Egypt, and visual effects.

The company is already up and running and is currently working on color grading for Hepta2; The Last Debate, the sequel to 2016 Egyptian hit romance, Hepta: The Last Lecture, having kicked off its activities by doing post-production on Egypt’s 2026 Oscars entry and Tribeca breakout Happy Birthday by Sarah Goher.

Features due to pass through the new facility include Mohamed Siam’s My Father’s Scent, which earned five awards at last year’s Final Cut in Venice meeting; Marwan Hamed’s biopic El Sett, starring Mona Zaki as iconic Egyptian singer Umm Kulthum, and the upcoming epic historical film Assad by Diab.

The above works have all been edited by Hafez but Story Studio is not intended solely as a home for the editor’s own projects.

Core to the company’s creation is a mission to become a collaborative hub for up-and-coming talents, and a place where emerging editors, colorists, and sound designers can work alongside established professionals, accessing technology and mentorship previously out of reach.

Hafez has also conceived the hub as a launchpad for emerging storytellers giving them access to the necessary tools and support to refine their voice and craft world-class content.

The editor’s 20-year career spans more than 50 credits which include Hamed’s horror-mystery hit The Blue Elephant, Amr Salama’s well-traveled coming of age drama Sheikh Jackson, 2024 Egyptian Oscar entry Voy!, Voy!, Voy! and the Netflix series Paranormal.

Aside from Moon Knight, Hafez’s international credits include Jordanian drama Inshallah A Boy by Amjad Al Rasheed, which premiered in Cannes Critics’ Week and then represented Jordan at the Oscars.

Hafez is a member of both the American Cinema Editors Society and the Motion Picture Editors Guild.
