HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — A Huntsville woman has been charged with attempted murder after being accused of following another driver and shooting at her vehicle.
On Thursday, September 25, Huntsville Police responded to Wheeler Avenue as a caller told authorities that her life was in danger as she was being followed by another vehicle and someone inside was shooting at her while she drove down University Drive.
Upon arrival, officers noticed that the caller’s vehicle had been hit twice by gunfire. HPD told News 19 that no one was injured during the incident.
The case was then turned over to the Huntsville Police Department’s Violent Crime Unit which identified Alyssa Messineo a person of interest.
On Monday, September 29 around 2:40 p.m., Members with Huntsville Police Department’s Anti – Crime Team pulled a vehicle over for illegal window tint.
HPD identified the driver as Alyssa Messineo, 23, of Huntsville.
HPD said that Anti-Crime Team members were already looking for Messineo and knew that she was in the vehicle because of her involvement during an incident where shots were fire into an occupied vehicle on Thursday, September 25.
While pulling Messineo over on Monday, officers developed probable cause to search her vehicle after noticing the smell of marijuana coming from the car.
After searching the car, officers found three bags of marijuana. Messineo was arrested and charged with aggravated assault-attempted murder, possession of marijuana.
She was transported and booked into the Madison County Jail.
