Eighteen-year Paramount vet Ricardo Cortes has just been promoted to EVP, International Theatrical Distribution and Head of Latin America for the studio.
Mark Viane, President of International Theatrical Distribution, recently shared the news with his team in an internal email. The promotion for Cortes is effective today.
In this expanded role, Cortes will take on oversight of Paramount’s theatrical distribution strategy across offshore markets, while continuing to lead the studio’s ops throughout Latin America.
Most recently, Cortes was the studio’s SVP, Latin America Distribution & Marketing, and Managing Director, Mexico.
He joined Paramount in 2007, and worked on such blockbuster regional launches as Sonic the Hedgehog, Mission: Impossible and Transformers series, among others. Prior to joining Paramount, Cortes began his career at United International Pictures (UIP) in 2003 as Sales Manager, Latin America and Caribbean based in Brazil.
“Ricardo has been an integral and indispensable part of our international team for nearly two decades. His leadership, expertise, and deep relationships in the region have been instrumental to Paramount’s success, and I have full confidence that he will excel in this new role,” said Viane in his note to staff.
Next up for Paramount is Miramax’s Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst movie, Roofman from director Derek Cianfrance.
