Celine Dion and Omar Sy have been announced alongside Benjamin Lavernhe, Antoine de Caunes, Clémence Poésy, Pom Klementieff and Alain Chabat for the French-language voice cast of High in the Clouds.
Adapted from McCartney’s eponymous 2005 children’s book, the 3D animated family film follows the adventures of a teenager squirrel called Wirral who accidentally sparks a revolution against Gretsch, the bossy diva-owl who has banned all music from his town.
Dion, Poésy, Klementieff and Chabat were also previously announced for the animation‘s English-language voice cast, led by Himesh Patel as Wirral and Hannah Waddington as Gretsch and also featuring Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.
High in the Clouds is directed by Toby Genkel(The Amazing Maurice), written by Jon Crocker (The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse, Oscar for Best Short Film 2023 – Paddington 2), with production design by Patrick Hanenberger (Rise of the Guardians, Lego Movie 2),
Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino (Ratatouille, Up, Inside Out, Coco) will score the feature, with brand-new songs from Paul McCartney written exclusively for the film. The original soundtrack is set to be released by Universal Music Group.
The film is produced by Paul McCartney (MPL Communications), Robert Shaye and Michael Lynne (Unique Features), Sidonie Dumas, Nicolas Atlan, and Terry Kalagian for Gaumont, in association with MPL Communications, Polygram Entertainment (Michele Anthony and David Blackman), Lemoko Investments, Sky, and James L. Nederlander Productions.
Gaumont Animation is producing the feature and partnering with the creative team at 88 Pictures(The Bad Guys: A Very Bad Holiday, Spirit Untamed), who is in charge of key animation elements of the film.
