Police arrested a man on a slew of charges following a high-speed pursuit involving a stolen vehicle that started in Ventura County and ended in the San Fernando Valley.
The Simi Valley Police Department put out a statement indicating that an officer within their department tried to pull over a vehicle, a 1990s-era Toyota, around 10:50 p.m. Sunday for driving recklessly and having blacked out windows.
The driver then failed to yield and a pursuit was initiated.
Spike strips were deployed in an attempt to stop the driver; however, they were unsuccessful, officers stated. Air support was brought in as the chase continued from Simi Valley surface streets to the 118 Freeway.
After driving east on the 118, the driver exited at Topanga Canyon Boulevard, SVPD said, where a PIT maneuver was successfully performed that stopped the vehicle.
The driver was then taken into custody without further incident. He was identified by police as Canyon Country resident Timothy Arthur Jones.
Per SVPD, Jones was arrested for auto theft, felony evading and several outstanding felony warrants.
He was booked at the Ventura County Jail.
