Authorities are searching for a suspect after a fatal shooting at a gas station in East Los Angeles.
According to the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were dispatched to the 3900 block of East Olympic Boulevard on reports of a gunshot victim at 7:48 p.m. Sunday. The location provided by law enforcement officials is a 76 gas station on the corner of Olympic and Indiana Street.
“When deputies arrived on scene, they discovered the victim, a Hispanic male between 35 to 40 years old, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to the upper torso,” LASD said in a statement. “He was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead.”
No other identifying information on the victim was immediately released.
First responders were seen at the gas station providing medical aid to the victim, who was laying in the gas station parking lot close to the sidewalk. A car parked next to a pump with bullet casings around it was investigated by deputies before eventually being towed; however, its connection to the shooting, if any, is not known.
Investigators were unable to provide any further details surrounding a possible suspect involved in the incident.
Anyone with information should contact the sheriff’s department’s Homicide Bureau: 323-890-5500.
