CHARLOTTE (WJZY) — Police are investigating after a body was found in the landing gear of a plane from Europe that landed at the Charlotte Airport, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Around 9 a.m. on Sunday, airport officials in Charlotte, North Carolina, said they found someone hiding in the landing gear while performing maintenance on that American Airlines plane that had recently arrived from Europe.
The person was pronounced dead by officers.
No other details have been released on the investigation.
In a statement to Nexstar’s WJZY, American Airlines said it is “working with law enforcement on its investigation.”

Earlier this year, two bodies, later identified as teenagers, were found in the landing gear compartment of a JetBlue aircraft at a South Florida airport, authorities said. That flight arrived in Fort Lauderdale from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.
In late December, a body was found in the wheel well of a United Airlines plane after it landed in Maui from Chicago.
