Huntington Beach ‘clutter home’ draws nearly 40 complaints from neighbors

A Huntington Beach residence described by neighbors as a “clutter home” has elicited dozens of complaints from those living near it.

The home is located in the 19000 block of Pitcairn Lane, located in a neighborhood off Brookhurst Street and Yorktown Avenue in the eastern part of the city.

Area residents say it appears the homeowner, who has not been identified, has been accumulating items inside and outside the home. They describe the situation as “a mess” and say it doesn’t only make the neighborhood look bad, but it’s also causing safety issues.

One resident who spoke with KTLA 5’s Ellina Abovian on Tuesday morning said the home has been this way for a decade.

The home has debris in the front yard and a large tree covering the driveway, which on Tuesday morning had two cars parked in it; both were covered by the tree and overgrown brush.

“Just by standing here on the sidewalk…it almost looks like a dumping site,” Abovian noted. “There’s an overgrown tree, overgrown brush, rocks, piles of bricks, torn out car seats and just random things scattered all around this property.”

KTLA reached out to the city of Huntington Beach for comment on the home’s condition, and the city’s public affairs manager, Corbin Carson, said that officials have received 39 complaints related to the property.

“Several citations have been issued against the owner,” Carson said. “Code Enforcement is working closely with the City Attorney’s Office, but due to ongoing matters, we cannot provide further comment at this time.”

Something interesting to note is that, on Google Maps Street View, the entire neighborhood is viewable from the road, except for the portion on Pitcairn Lane where the “clutter home” is located.

Satellite images from above, however, show items scattered about the front yard and the backyard of the home.
