CHANDLER – A zombie apocalypse awaits Halloween time attendees to Rawhide Western Town in Chandler.

Apocalypse Rawhide kicks off its second year on Oct. 3 at the wild west attraction off Wild Horse Pass Boulevard west of Interstate 10.

The event runs through Nov. 1, with tickets on sale at Rawhide’s web site at $39 for general admission and $59 for VIP options.

How does Apocalypse Rawhide zombie experience work?

The seasonal redesign will lead groups of between four and six guests, or “deputy sheriffs,” through a zombie-infested western town as they attempt to escape without being overrun by the undead.

Participants will use laser tag guns called irShotguns, which maker iCombat describes as the “newest and most technologically advanced laser tag shotgun on the market.” The laser guns simulate realistic accurate shell counting and tube loading.

In an effort to elevate the guest experience this year, Apocalypse Rawhide is adding a digital ticket queue to avoid long lines. The fully outdoor western town itself will also feature food trucks, a new gift shop and an LED pumpkin music show.

“We’re excited to bring back our twist to the zombie apocalypse theme! This event is back by popular demand and now features even more frightening elements for guests to enjoy,” Dave Horen, director of entertainment at Wild Horse Pass Presents, said in a statement.
