MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — Madison County Elementary will be hosting a pep rally to honor an 8th grade student who survived cancer.

According to the school district, an eighth grade student named Josslyne, has completed her final cancer treatment.

The entire school community will come together to recognize her strength, courage, and perseverance during a pep rally on Friday, September 26 at 10 a.m. in the school gymnasium.

Josslyne began her cancer journey as a student at Madison County Elementary. As part of the celebration, Josslyne and her family will take part in a special bell-ringing ceremony during the pep rally, symbolically marking the end of her treatment journey.

Members of the Madison County High School band, cheerleaders, and football team will be joining the event to help celebrate Josslyne.

In addition to honoring Josslyne, the school will host “Hats On for Josslyne!”—a special Hat Dayfundraiser to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which provides critical support to children battling cancer. Students and staff are encouraged to donate and wear their favorite hats to show support and raise awareness.

The entire school will also be “Going Gold for Our Gal Josslyne” in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Everyone is invited to wear gold, the official color of childhood cancer awareness, to stand in solidarity with children and families affected by pediatric cancer.
