Summary

  • Bob W opened its first Swedish apartment hotel in Stockholm, designed by Note Design Studio
  • The property offers a digital guest experience and features a design that blends its 1960s building’s brutalist past with vibrant, modern interiors, using sustainable practices

International hospitality brand Bob W has opened its first Swedish property at Kammakargatan 5 in Stockholm’s Norrmalm district, housed within a renovated 1965 structure. The technology-driven apartment hotel features fully equipped studios with kitchens, accommodating both short- and extended-stay guests. Note Design Studio’s co-founders Johannes Karlström and Jesper Mellgren have tailored interiors that bridge the building’s original 1960s architecture with Stockholm’s contemporary spirit, drawing on the district’s vibrant restaurant scene and dynamic urban energy.

Championing sustainability and cost efficiency, Note preserved as many of the existing building components as possible, intervening only where necessary. Their design narrative juxtaposes the restrained brutalist exterior with lively, saturated interiors: monochromatic corridors guide guests toward suites and common areas that burst with bespoke vintage furnishings and bold, eccentric detailing. Each space becomes a chapter in Stockholm’s story of transformation, anchored by thoughtful contrasts.

Bob W’s signature fusion of cutting-edge technology, high-end local design, and home-like comfort is fully realized through a seamless digital guest experience. Co-founder and CEO Niko Karstikko highlights the brand’s commitment to authenticity, noting that “every detail is a nod to the city’s creative culture,” ensuring visitors enjoy a genuine taste of Stockholm’s pulse within a hassle-free, fully digital service framework.

This Stockholm property marks the first of several Note Design Studio and Bob W collaborations. Next on the agenda is a 7,500 square-meter former police station in Copenhagen’s Meatpacking District, which Note’s Copenhagen studio is transforming into a 169-room flagship apartment hotel slated to open in October 2027.
