Dodger fans hoping to tune in to see Clayton Kershaw’s final regular season start at Chavez Ravine will need an Apple TV+ subscription.
The exclusive broadcast rights for the game against the San Francisco Giants belong to Apple TV+, as part of a “Friday Night Baseball” deal that the tech company acquired from MLB.
The deal guarantees Apple a minimum of four exclusive broadcasts for whatever teams it chooses to air, a league official told the Los Angeles Times. Friday’s game will be the Dodgers’ fourth on Apple TV+ this season.
Kershaw, 37, is a two-time World Series Champion, an 11-time MLB All-Star, a three-time National League Cy Young winner, and the 2014 National League’s Most Valuable Player.
He will finish his Major League Baseball career having never suited up for any other team, and he will retire as the club’s all-time leader in strikeouts and WHIP. He’s second all-time in wins and opponent batting average, and third all-time in earned run average.
Fans can sign up for a free seven-day trial of Apple TV+ here. For those signing up to watch Kershaw, please note that you will need to cancel within the seven-day window to avoid being billed $12.99 each month.
