PHOENIX — One of Arizona’s leading housing developers recently purchased land in Mesa for a rental community called Cabana Mesa Drive, which is scheduled to begin construction this month.

Greenlight Communities bought the six acres of land, which is located at 515 N. Mesa Drive, with the help of global asset manager PGIM. It will contain 180 units, with studio spaces and one- and two-bedroom apartments, according to a Tuesday press release.

The latest in the Greenlight portfolio, its 19th affordable housing project for the Arizona working class, is scheduled to be completed in January 2027.

“Cabana Mesa Drive represents exactly why we started Greenlight Communities,” Pat Watts, co-founder and senior partner at Greenlight Communities, said in the release.

“Mesa is experiencing incredible growth and revitalization, but many of the new developments are either luxury apartments or single-family homes. Our goal is to deliver high-quality, attainably priced homes for the members of the workforce that keep this city thriving.”

Each new unit will feature 9-foot high ceilings, quartz countertops, washers and dryers, stainless steel appliances and wooded flooring.

The shared community space will offer a pool, clubhouse with a fitness center, dog park and additional open areas for events.

Greenlight Communities helped nearly 700 Arizonans find affordable housing in 2024.
