HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — A third dynamic message sign (DMS) will rise into the sky over I-565 westbound near the Triana Boulevard overpass in Huntsville tonight.

The DMS is the last major feature being installed as part of the $5.2 million I-565 advanced corridor management project.

So far, the project has already added two other DMS to the corridor, 10 traffic cameras, and two stations for monitoring road and weather conditions, in addition to fiber optic cable and various communication devices.

According to ALDOT, the installation of the third DMS was delayed due to a change of location for the original site that was planned. Exploratory drilling and redesign of foundations was also required during the process. ALDOT said that foundations and uprights for the DMS are already in place.

Starting tonight, contractors will implement lane closures from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. The closures will reduce I-565 westbound to one lane of traffic near Oakwood Avenue to Triana Boulevard.

Drivers should expect two rolling roadblocks, and each will last around 30 minutes. A crane will lift the overhead structure and DMS into position.

During the roadblocks, contractors will close the on-ramps to I-565 westbound at Oakwood Avenue, Washington Street and US-231/US-431/Memorial Parkway.

Additionally, the contractor will close the inside lane of I-565 eastbound from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m.

ALEA State troopers will assist with traffic control efforts.
