After days hospitalized in critical condition, family members say a 20-year-old woman has died from stabbing injuries she sustained during a massive fight early Sunday morning in West Hollywood.
The brawl broke out between 3 and 3:30 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, in the area of Santa Monica Boulevard between San Vicente and Robertson boulevards — a stretch of WeHo where popular bars are located.
It was not immediately clear what started such a large fight, but LASD estimated that about 20 to 30 people participated in the violent scuffle, resulting in one woman being stabbed.
Paramedics transported the victim to a hospital, and her condition remained critical until loved ones announced her death days later.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic loss of our beloved Maritza (Solis) Gonzalez, who was taken from us far too soon on the night of September 16, 2025,” says a GoFundMe set up by the family. “Maritza was only 20 years old—a vibrant, kind, and charismatic young woman whose smile could light up any room. She was the youngest of four children and the only daughter of Cecilia Solis and Armando Gonzalez. Her three older brothers adored her deeply, and she was truly the pride and joy of her family.”
A vigil was held for Maritza on Wednesday night near the area where she was stabbed, and loved ones were seen grieving the young woman with music, flowers and photos arranged on the side of the street.
“Her life was tragically cut short in a violent attack, leaving her family and community devastated and heartbroken,” states the GoFundMe. “Maritza will be missed by many, but her light and love will live on in the hearts of those she touched. Thank you for your support, prayers, and kindness.”
No arrests have been announced as of Thursday morning in connection with this case. After the stabbing, the suspect, who was only described by authorities as a male, fled the location in an unknown direction.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
