EXCLUSIVE: Netflix has preemptively acquired Blink of an Eye, a thriller spec by the husband-and-wife writing team of Chris Roach and Jillian Jacobs.
Plot details are under wraps. Pic is based on a story by Christopher Landon, who is attached to direct, and will produce alongside Brad Fuller, Cameron Fuller and Michael Bay of Platinum Dunes.
The project reunites the team behind Drop, the Hitchcockian thriller starring Meghann Fahy and Brandon Sklenar that hit theaters in April.
Roach & Jacobs’ Drop stars Fahy as a widowed single mother whose first date in a skyscraper restaurant goes terribly wrong when anonymous “drops” on her cell phone force her into a deadly game threatening everyone she loves. Produced by Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes, the film garnered strong reviews in its SXSW premiere before releasing through Universal Pictures.
Prior to Drop, Roach & Jacobs wrote Sony’s Fantasy Island and Blumhouse’s Truth or Dare, as well as Magic 8 Ball for Blumhouse. Prior to his partnership with Jacobs, Roach wrote Non-Stop starring Liam Neeson for Universal. The writing team is repped by Verve, Lit Entertainment Group’s Adam Kolbrenner, and attorney Gregg Gellman.
In addition to Drop, Landon is known for directing the Happy Death Day films, the Vince Vaughn-Kathryn Newton slasher Freaky, and Netflix’s We Have a Ghost. Also recently producing and writing on Screen Gems’ Heart Eyes, he is repped by WME, Mosaic, Empirical, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman.
Behind franchises like A Quiet Place and The Purge, Platinum Dune’s recent credits in addition to Drop include A Quiet Place: Day One, Rosemary’s Baby prequel Apartment 7A starring Julia Garner, and The Forever Purge.
