Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a pedestrian in the Mid-City area of Los Angeles.

On Sept. 12, Los Angeles police responded to a crash near La Brea Avenue and Venice Boulevard around 10:20 p.m.

The pedestrian was crossing the street when a driver in a Honda RX SUV sped through the area and struck the pedestrian. The suspect continued driving away without stopping to check on the injured victim.

Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where they died from their injuries. The victim’s identity is being withheld until the next of kin has been notified.

“Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves,” LAPD said.

The suspect’s car was described as a dark or silver-colored Honda RX SUV. No further details were released as the incident remains under investigation.

A reward of up to $50,000 is available to anyone who provides information leading to the suspect’s identification, apprehension and conviction.

Anyone with information is asked to call LAPD West Traffic Detectives at 213-473-0234. During non-business hours or on weekends, call 1-877-527-3247.

Anonymous tips can be provided to L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at lacrimestoppers.org.
