The New York Yankees lost one of the best players in baseball last offseason in Juan Soto. Could they make a run at Ronald Acuña Jr, if he becomes available?
Recently, MLB Network discussed the idea of Ronald Acuña Jr. being traded. He has one year and two club options left on his deal. However, his recent movement in the lineup and the Atlanta Braves’ lackluster season could have him questioning his future in Atlanta.
Acuña is a five-time All-Star, three-time Silver Slugger and MVP Award winner. He is one of the best players in all of baseball and would yield a haul in trade. BALLCAP Sports’ Jim Riley floated this idea to bring Acuña to the Bronx.

- Braves receive: Anthony Volpe, Spencer Jones (MLB No. 87, Yankees No. 3), Bryce Cunningham (Yankees No. 4) and Ian Hamilton
Adding Acuña would likely lead to the Yankees letting Cody Bellinger walk, but they would be getting a game-changing player. Meanwhile, the Yankees would also be getting rid of Volpe, who is having a terrible season.
Volpe could use a change of scenery and a smaller market. For the Braves, they would no longer have to worry about paying Acuña when the time comes and would be getting a young, talented outfielder in Jones.
The reality of the situation is that the Braves are not likely to trade Acuña. In fact, Acuña has noted his desire to stay with the Braves past what is left on his contract. However, things can change in a hurry when it comes to a player’s desire to stay in any one place.
Acuña joining Aaron Judge in the Bronx would give the Yankees an offensive duo similar to what they had with Judge and Soto.
