A father is facing involuntary manslaughter charges after his child was left inside a vehicle Tuesday afternoon in the View Park-Windsor Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Deputies were sent to the 3800 block of Chanson Drive shortly after 3 p.m. on a report of a child not breathing, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department stated in a news release.

“The call involved a child who was found unresponsive in a vehicle,” the Sheriff’s Department said.

Personnel from the Los Angeles County Fire Department were also sent to the scene, where the child was pronounced dead.

No information regarding the age or identity of the child was released. The events leading up to the incident were also unclear.

The child’s father, identified as Edwin Johnson of View Park, was arrested on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter and child neglect, the Sheriff’s Department said.

Homicide investigators are assisting Marina Del Rey Station personnel with the death investigation.

Anyone with further information was asked to contact the Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Those who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or go to the lacrimestoppers.org website.
