Swedish running brand UNNA has teamed up with sneaker label HOKA to put a whimsical spin on the Speedgoat 2, complete with detachable critter charms.
Debuting two new colorways for the inaugural collaboration, the brand introduces rubber caterpillar charms as a symbol for transformation. “We’re all caterpillars with the potential to become beautiful butterflies,” said the brand in the official announcement. With technicolor lace charms already in the mix, the collaborators have opted for a subdued color palette, offering a metallic silver variant (Astral/Galaxy) and a white variant with a tan midsole (Sea Ice/Cosmic Grey).
UNNA founder John-Ruben Holtback shared that the Speedgoat 2 has been his “go-to trail shoe” for more than five years. “Reimagining it with HOKA felt not only natural but essential. We want to inspire more people to move and feel good about themselves, and that’s exactly what this shoe does,” he added.
Inspired by Karl Meltzer, who holds the record for most 100-mile trail race wins, the Speedgoat 2 featured an engineered mesh upper with low-profile protective overlays. Since UNNA believes “it’s not about finishing in first place, but in a good place,” “GOOD PLACE” is printed on the toe boxes as a gentle reminder. For safety, the Vibram® Megagrip outsole provides traction, and reflective webbing ensures visibility on the streets.
