HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Heart of the Valley YMCA announced that the association has successfully exited chapter 11 bankruptcy.

The YMCA first entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy in August 2024 as part of a strategicrestructuring effort. Over the past year, the association has worked to stabilizeoperations, strengthen financial stewardship, and position itself for long-term success.

“This is a turning point for the Heart of the Valley YMCA,” said Rob Gray, who joined theAssociation as President and Chief Executive Officer last month. “Our mission remains atthe heart of everything we do. Exiting bankruptcy allows us to move forward with renewedstrength, optimism, and focus on serving children, families, and neighbors across ourregion.”

With the restructuring now complete, the YMCA will continue to expand access to vitalcommunity programs—ranging from youth development and family wellness to outreachinitiatives that address health, education, and social responsibility.

“While the past year has brought challenges, it has also reaffirmed the resilience of ourYMCA family and the importance of our mission,” said Gray. “We are grateful for theunwavering support of our members, staff, volunteers, and community partners.Together, we will build a stronger YMCA for generations to come.”
