Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs started off the 2025 NFL season with an AFC West division matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers in Brazil. Unfortunately, the team was unable to start off the season with a win.

After a hard-fought game between the division rivals, the Chiefs came up short by a final score of 27-21.

More concerning than the loss for Kansas City was the injury suffered by Xavier Worthy. He went down with a shoulder injury and could miss some time.

With that being said, could the Chiefs consider going out and bringing in another elite weapon for Mahomes? They don’t necessarily need to, but investing in Mahomes is always a wise decision.

How about a potential blockbuster trade with the Miami Dolphins to reunite with superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill?

That could actually still be a real possibility.

In Week 1, the Dolphins lost in embarrassing fashion to the Indianapolis Colts by a final score of 33-8. Hill was clearly frustrated throughout the game.

Since joining Miami, Hill has hinted at trade requests and publicly stated that he wants out. He has worked through those issues with the Dolphins, but could they still remain? Even if he doesn’t request a trade, could Miami consider moving on from him if they get good value in return?

If Hill were to hit the trade block, Kansas City would be an ideal destination. The Chiefs are heading towards the end of their current dynasty. Travis Kelce only has another year or two left playing at an elite level.

Making an aggressive trade for Hill would instantly boost Kansas City’s Super Bowl odds. He wouldn’t be cheap to acquire, but the Chiefs should be open to the idea of paying a good price to bring him home.

During his previous stint with Kansas City, Hill was an unstoppable force alongside Mahomes. The two had elite chemistry. That chemistry would not be hard to rebuild.

At this point in time, there is no guarantee the Dolphins will open up to the idea of trading Hill. There is also no guarantee that the Chiefs would pursue him if he was placed on the trade block.

That being said, the fit would make a lot of sense. It’s something to keep an eye on and there is a very real chance that Miami would listen to trade offers for Hill. Kansas City should strongly consider the option.
