A large intersection in Huntington Park was closed off on Sunday morning after an off-duty firefighter found a hit-and-run victim lying in the roadway, officials confirmed.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department said a call came in around 6:19 a.m. reporting that a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene. It was not immediately clear whether the firefighter who found the body was with LACoFD, but LACoFD was the responding agency.

Units arrived a few minutes later and transported the unidentified patient to a local hospital around 7:08 a.m. The victim’s condition and the extent of their injuries were initially unavailable.

There were no suspect descriptions or arrests reported as of 10:40 a.m. However, footage from the scene shows the entire intersection cordoned off with caution tape, and a black pickup truck was seen being towed away on a flatbed.

Video posted by users on the Citizen app captured the large investigation scene, where a large law enforcement presence was seen keeping viewers at a distance from the intersection.

Anyone with further information is encouraged to contact local authorities.

Vanessa Garcia contributed to this report.
