Summary

  • LEGO’s new UCS Death Star is their most expensive set ever, at $999.99 USD and 9,023 pieces
  • The set is a detailed diorama with 38 minifigures, the most ever in a single set
  • It is set to be released on October 4, 2025

LEGO has officially unveiled the highly anticipated LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series Death Star Diorama, and it’s a monumental build in every sense. With a staggering 9,023 pieces and an eye-watering price tag of $999.99 USD, this set officially becomes the most expensive LEGO product ever released, dethroning the previous record holders, the UCS Millennium Falcon and AT-AT.

This isn’t a simple globe-shaped model, but a deep, detailed cross-section of the iconic space station. The diorama allows fans to recreate legendary scenes from the original trilogy, including Luke and Leia’s daring swing over the reactor shaft, the tense lightsaber duel in the Emperor’s throne room, and the infamous trash compactor scene. The set is packed with Easter eggs and authentic details, designed for die-hard fans and serious collectors.

To truly bring the Death Star to life, the set includes a record-breaking 38 minifigures, the most ever included in a single LEGO set. The collection features all the key players, from Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader to obscure Imperial officers and even a “Hot Tub Stormtrooper,” a fun nod to the LEGO Star Wars video games. The set is scheduled for a public release on October 4, 2025 online, with early access for LEGO Insiders starting on October 1.
