Northern Arizona (0–1) enters Week 2 looking to rebound after a 38–19 road loss to No. 11 Arizona State. Quarterback Ty Pennington showed promise, completing 22 of 35 passes for 204 yards and a touchdown, while wide receiver Kolbe Katsis led the way with 76 receiving yards. Kenveon Stone added a short rushing touchdown, but the Lumberjacks struggled to contain the Sun Devils’ balanced attack. Heading into their home opener, Northern Arizona will look to tighten up defensively and sustain drives more effectively as they take on Utah Tech.
Utah Tech (0–1) fell 31–24 in a gutsy season opener at home against No. 8 UC Davis. Quarterback Caden Pinnick passed for 253 yards and three touchdown passes, but defensive breakdowns in the second half, where Davis scored 24 unanswered points, ultimately cost the Trailblazers. Jordan Fisher was a bright spot on the ground with 105 rushing yards and a touchdown, and Samuel Gbatu Jr. caught two scores for 93 receiving yards
