After a busy few years on screen, Jonathan Bailey is taking a step back from Hollywood to focus on a cause close to his heart.
The Emmy nominee recently announced that he plans to “stop acting for a bit” in 2026 as he prepares to focus more energy on The Shameless Fund, the LGBTQ charity Bailey launched last summer.
“I’ve been working solidly for about three years now, which has been amazing and mind-blowing,” he told British GQ. “But with everything happening in the world right now, I’m going to stop acting for a bit next year and just focus on The Shameless Fund.
“Over the next few months, I’ll be focusing on staffing and making sure we get all the right people in all the right places,” added Bailey.
Since launching the nonprofit last June, Bailey has raised money with celebrity and brand partnerships, including his “Drink Your Milk” t-shirt designed by Loewe and his “Slutty Little Glasses” inspired by his Jurassic World: Rebirth character, raising money for non-profits around the world to end anti-LGBTQ laws.
“There’s this statistic: out of every £100 raised in the UK, only 1p goes to the LGBTQ+ community,” said Bailey. “You really have to dig to find solutions, and I genuinely think The Shameless Fund is exactly that.”
Bailey’s upcoming break will follow his press tour for Wicked: For Good, the second installment of the movie musical adaptation, which premieres Nov. 21 in theaters.
