As rumors continue to swirl about his future, AEW star Chris Jericho has kept his options open regarding a potential return to WWE. In a new interview, the former AEW World Champion stated that while he is happy in AEW, he would not be opposed to returning to the company that made him a global star.

Jericho’s AEW contract is reportedly set to expire at the end of 2025, and his long absence from television has fueled speculation about his next move. Speaking to “The Daily Mail,” Jericho addressed the situation.

Chris Jericho Keeping His Options Open

Jericho was clear that he is not going anywhere at the moment, but he also did not rule out a return to WWE down the line.

“I’m not going anywhere for a while, I’m still with AEW for right now. Would I go back to WWE? I wouldn’t be opposed to it,” Jericho said. “We just have to see what happens. But the best thing that can happen is that you have two great teams that you can play for, and that just makes everything bigger and more exciting.”

A Foundational AEW Star

Chris Jericho was a foundational figure for AEW, giving the upstart promotion immediate main event credibility when he signed in 2019 and became the first-ever AEW World Champion. He has been one of the company’s highest-paid stars ever since.

However, at 54 years old and working a more limited schedule, a new, seven-figure contract would be a notable business decision for both Jericho and AEW President Tony Khan. This has led to the speculation that he may be considering other options.

A WWE Return For Chris Jericho?

A potential return to WWE, the company where he became a multi-time world champion and a guaranteed future Hall of Famer, would be a historic story. Previous reports have indicated that there is interest from within WWE in bringing the legend back into the fold.

Jericho has been absent from AEW television since April, and with his contract reportedly expiring at the end of the year, the wrestling world will be watching closely to see if “The Ayatollah of Rock ‘n’ Rolla” will re-sign with AEW or make a historic return to WWE.
