The Los Angeles Chargers are about to start their 2025 NFL regular-season schedule against the Kansas City Chiefs in Brazil on Friday. They’re looking to make the playoffs for the second straight year and establish themselves as a team that will truly have to be accounted for, while Kansas City is hoping to reach the Super Bowl for the fourth straight year.
Bolts coach Jim Harbaugh has always believed in building teams from the inside out, which means starting with a strong and tough offensive line. To that end, the team took offensive tackle Joe Alt with the No. 5 pick in the 2024 draft, and this offseason, they signed offensive lineman Mekhi Becton.
Becton was initially listed as questionable for Friday’s game due to an illness. But he will be active and in uniform, per Ian Rapoport.

Becton was a member of the Philadelphia Eagles last season, and he started all 15 games he appeared in while making a significant contribution as they won the Super Bowl championship.
He had spent his first four NFL seasons with the New York Jets, although he had sat out all of 2022 due to a fractured kneecap. He was the No. 11 pick in the 2020 draft out of the University of Louisville.
According to the Chargers’ official depth chart, Becton is listed as their starting right guard. His presence will be even more important given the fact that starting left tackle Rashawn Slater will miss all of this season because of a knee injury.
