President Trump announced Friday that next year’s Group of 20 summit would be held at the resort he owns, the Trump Doral, in Florida, despite ethical concerns that led to him dropping a similar idea during his first term.
“Everybody wants it there because it’s right next to the airport,” he told reporters at the Oval Office. “It’s the best location. It’s beautiful.”
During his first term, he proposed but ultimately retracted a plan to host the Group of 7 meeting at the club. On Friday, he asserted that “we will not make any money on it.”
