Josh Allen has had a busy year to say the least.
He enters the season as the reigning NFL MVP. He married actress Hailee Steinfeld over the summer and his team took center stage during training camp as the subject of HBO‘s “Hard Knocks” show.
He added another notable event to his year Friday when he announced his signing with New Balance. Allen signed the deal with the apparel company with a specific commitment to funding and supporting youth sports in his hometown of Firebaugh, Calif.
“Together, we are making a commitment to Firebaugh to help fund its community sports program in the hopes of providing access to sports, regardless of ability to pay, to help young athletes across sports and chase their dreams. When you’re a kid just picking up a football for the first time or a high schooler grinding through two-a-days, we’re here for you, cheering you on from afar, from Boston, to Buffalo, to Firebaugh,” Allen wrote in the announcement statement, as shared by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The news of the New Balance deal comes soon after Allen’s alma mater, the University of Wyoming, announced the football program would retire his number this fall.
Allen and the Bills now prepare to host the Baltimore Ravens on NBC‘s “Sunday Night Football” in their season opener. The conference tilt marks a rematch of last season’s AFC Divisional round when Buffalo held on in the final minutes in a 27-25 win at home.
