Thinking of upgrading to Apple’s new iPhone? You might end up paying more than you did last time.

The tech giant is expected to reveal the iPhone 17 lineup at an event on Tuesday.

Wall Street analysts are predicting higher price tags. They estimate some of the new phones could cost $50 to $100 more than their predecessors.

Morgan Stanley analysts expect Apple to “modestly” raise iPhone prices for the first time in seven years, they wrote in a note on Thursday.

The analysts don’t expect Apple to raise prices across the board. Instead, they predict the company will eliminate its lowest-cost 128-gigabyte option for the Pro model. That would start the Pro at $1,099 for 256 gigabytes, Morgan Stanley said.

The cheapest iPhone 16 Pro retails for $999.

Apple is also expected to introduce a slimmer “Air” version of the iPhone this year, replacing its larger Plus model, Bloomberg reported.

Bank of America analysts wrote in August that they expect the iPhone 17 “Air” to cost about $100 more than the current Plus models. The iPhone 16 Plus starts at $899, so the new price tag would be around $999.

Meanwhile, Jefferies analysts are predicting a $50 price increase — a 4% to 5% jump from 2024 — to offset the impact of tariffs, they wrote in a July note. The adjustment would likely not affect the base model. It would hit the Pro, the larger Pro Max, and the rumored slimmer iPhone model, Jefferies said.

Apple didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.

One possible reason for a price hike is concerns that tariff changes could make US iPhones more expensive to manufacture. Apple is navigating tariff changes that cost the company $800 million last quarter, though an exemption for some tariffs was announced in August. The company has made an effort to diversify its supply chain in recent years, shifting some manufacturing away from China to countries like India.
