While the Philadelphia Phillies have been one of the best teams in baseball, their rotation is far from perfect going into the postseason.

Zack Wheeler will reportedly miss the rest of the season, and one of the Phillies’ veteran arms has struggled. Aaron Nola has a 6.78 ERA in 13 starts and has dealt with injuries. One former Phillies pitcher, Lenny Dykstra, did not mince words when talking about Nola.

“How many more years til the (Phillies) figure out Nola sucks?” wrote Dykstra on X.

Nola is a former All-Star and has a 3.83 career ERA. He has not been good this year, but to say he has struggled for years would not be accurate. Nola started 33 games last season and had a 3.57 ERA.

Dykstra played 12 seasons and spent eight seasons with the Phillies. He played the rest of his career with the New York Mets. He was a three-time All-Star, Silver Slugger and World Series champion.

Dykstra slashed .285/.375/.419 in his career and hit 81 home runs. He clearly is not happy that the Phillies are still trotting Nola out for starts despite his struggles. Nola has struggled greatly in the first inning, but overall, he has been bitten by big innings all season.

Nola still has about a month to iron out his issues and prove Dykstra wrong. He has a 4.02 postseason ERA, but the Phillies will need him to be sharp without Wheeler at their disposal. Manager Rob Thomson has expressed confidence in Nola’s ability to figure things out.
